TALLADEGA, Alabama – The Philander Smith University Panthers improved their impressive season record after sweeping Stillman College in a dominant three-set match on October 19, 2024. The team showcased their skill in front of an enthusiastic away crowd, winning the sets 25-19, 25-21, and 25-22 respectively.
Maya Jones led the Panthers with a stellar performance, delivering 10 kills. She was well-supported by Zarea Winn and Antonisha Whitney, who added 5 and 4 kills respectively. Defensively, Whitney and Ja'Niya Sanders fortified the net with 2 blocks each. The game's rhythm was also dictated by Karissa Maldonado, who managed 28 assists and led the team with 2 aces, matching Winn's ace count, while Ayanna Martin contributed one ace herself.
In the digs department, Christlove Lauture scooped up 9 digs, with Winn and Maldonado contributing 8 and 7 digs, respectively, ensuring the Panthers' court coverage was second to none.
